Oil Expeller / Oil Press

Cashew nut shells contain 20 – 25 % oil content. After pressing, a residual oil of less than 10 – 12 % is left in the oilcake.

The working principle of the Cashew Nut Shell Press is to forcefully push the cashew nut shell through the chamber by the action of the rotating screws. As the shell moves towards the discharge end, the screw pitch reduces thereby causing compression. Due to this increased pressure, the oil is squeezed out from the cashew shells and expelled out through the gaps in the chamber.

Reaction Vessel

The cashew nut shell liquid as extracted has a strong vesicant dramatic action. Before this liquid is utilised for preparation of resins, it requires treatment to get rid of metallic impurities as well as traces of sulphur compounds. Hence, Reaction Vessel is required to treat the extracted CNSL.

The Reaction Vessel is a Cylindrical Reactor with conical bottom consisting of Steam Heating Coils, Open Steam arrangement, Agitator & Drive.

Steam Boiler

The Steam Boiler is a closed vessel that generates Steam. This steam is let out through a pipeline that is directly connected to the Reaction vessel.

Bucket Elevator

Bucket elevator is the most suitable equipment to transport cashew nut shells vertically, without damaging them. A bucket elevator consists of a chain of buckets attached to a belt or chain, with pulleys located above and below the unit.

Screw Conveyor
